I'll be at Anime Expo this year! With the lovely :iconfictograph: and :iconvusc:. We'll be at table G34/G35 in the Artist Alley if you're interested in stopping by!

Excited to be back on the west coast and see all my artist peeps! Hope to see you there in a few days.

Here's a rough map of our location, we're about 7 rows in (the AA is huge) if you count all table rows, 3 rows in if you only count walking aisles. The bottom of the map faces the rest of the dealer's room.
It's crazy to think that 2014 has already rolled around! Some large life changes happened in 2013. Tons of my friends moved from the east coast to California last year (so ronery!) and I switched jobs at the tail end of 2013. I'd been at the same job since graduating college, so it was a pretty significant decision and change for me. I have lots to learn at my new role but I'm definitely excited about the challenge.

I also decided in 2013 that I'm going to travel as much as I can with my friends. I went on an extended trip to Scandinavia - [ Norway, Sweden, Denmark ], visited friends in LA and San Francisco, and just came back from an amazing New Years trip to Miami and the Florida Keys with four girlfriends.

Some pictures from my Miami Trip:

Some goals for 2014:

1) Draw more! This is always my goal, but I definitely need to do it more. I feel like I'm missing something in my life when I'm not drawing
2) Learn a useful life skill, like learning how to code
3) Figure out how to invest my money
4) Get in better shape!!!
5) Meet new people (see aforementioned friends moving to Cali)
6) Travel! Wishlist: New Zealand and/or Asia

Three friends and I are starting a sketchbook race~! You can find our progress and more details about it over at our Tumblr: cottonwoodrace.tumblr.com/

Tech Toys ;D

Journal Entry: Sat Sep 24, 2011, 1:59 PM

Has anyone had a chance to try out the new Wacom Inkling? Amazon link: amzn.com/B005KPUYVA

Its $200 on Amazon, and lets you doodle in a notebook and transfer your sketches directly to the computer without scanning it. Thinking about getting one, though at $200, its not exactly cheap, and I'm not sure how much extra utility it'll bring, since I already have a scanner. ;u;

Would love some feedback if anyone's used it before.

Alsooo, recently got a new iPad 2 as a gift (thank you mom, lol). I've been playing around with it, and it's really nice. *u* bbbb. It will definitely come in handy when I travel. I want to find some good sketch/art apps for it though. fongmingyun and I were talking, and we definitely agree that a device that blends a wacom tablet w/ an iPad would be amazinggg. It'd be like a traveling portable cintiq. If Apple's able to build pressure sensitivity into their iPads, it would be a game-changer.

Otakon 2011!! ;D

Wed Jul 27, 2011, 8:13 PM
Hey Guys! I'll be at the Artist Alley at Otakon 2011 this weekend, so if you're going, hopefully I'll see you there!

I will be sharing a table with my good friend :iconfongmingyun: again~

I'm a dumbbutt who forgot to pre-register for the con, so I'll probably be there a bit late on Friday, OTL.

But we'll be at table BB07 in the Artist Alley~

Handy Map:

~*~
Secondly, just going to pimp my tumblr again~ :star: peebun.tumblr.com :star:. I sometimes post sketches, wip, doodles, etc to it. And it's updated more regularly than DA nowadays. ;A;

Lastly, if anyone is in the NY metro area, I just got back from experiencing a play (?) called Sleep No More. There's no other word to describe it, other than an experience. Rather than having actors confined to the stage and having the audience merely watch them act, you, as the observer, get to follow the actors around the set, which takes up an entire building. I definitely appreciated it for it's originality, and the staggering amount of detail paid to every part of the set.

It's worth checking out if you're into performance art.

Undine Prince + Recent Stuffs

Sun Jun 12, 2011, 3:28 PM
Hey guys! I had a ton of fun at ABoston!
Thanks to everyone who stopped by~ :heart:

I'll be at Anime Expo and Otakon this year as well, sharing a table with my good friend :iconfongmingyun:.

At this point, we know we're in Row A of the Artist Alley for AX, but that's about it. I'll try to post a more specific table location once I find out.

Also, the new computer is great! I got another iMac <33
Living and working in New York now, so I have a bit more time than I used to. But there's so much to do in the city, I keep getting distracted!!

I recently attended a Deviantart Town Hall meeting in the East Village and it was really fun. Got to meet some other amazing artists from the area, as well as spyed and Heidi!

Lastly, :iconfongmingyun: is working on an illustrated Fairy Tale book Project called "The Undine Prince"! She's currently raising money to print the project and is 75% of the way there! Please click the link below for more details! <33

ARTBOOK, Final day for Kickstarter Pre-Order!

Journal Entry: Tue Jan 25, 2011, 8:24 AM

:star::bulletred::bulletgreen: Hey Guys!!~ :bulletgreen::bulletred::star:

At the moment, my friends and I who are a part of ( :iconboiledfish: ) Boiled Fish are close to publishing an independent Art Book. Today is the LAST DAY to pledge through Kickstarter, a pledge based project funding website. We've met our original goal, but if you pledge now, you can enter raffles for original artwork as well as get pre-orders of the artbook/buttons. With the additional funds, we're hoping to expand the number of pages we'll have in the book.

:bulletred::bulletgreen: :star:  Click on the banner below to check out the KickStarter Art Book Project Page: :star: :bulletred::bulletgreen:

:bulletred::bulletgreen: Group of Participating artists: :bulletred::bulletgreen:
:iconanarahk::iconbetrayal-and-wisdom::iconerina::iconfongmingyun::iconorenji-kun:

All the details for the Art Book project are explained at the Kickstarter Project Link above, but here's a quick synopsis:

At present, the softcover book stands to be between sixty pages to potentially eighty pages if we get enough funding, in full color.  As we receive pledges, we hope to add more illustrations, sketches, process work, and tutorials to give you, the backer, greater value. Pre-orders end REALLY SOON, and we need around a month for printing, so you can expect your copy (or copies) in March. You may order multiple copies, at $30 ea. Please comment in your donation with the number of books you want.

In addition, if you can't donate, we will have prizes for people who advertise our fund-raising project. Just post our image and link into your forum signature, journal, or banner, then note :iconfongmingyun: with the link to your advertisement, and you'll be entered into a raffle for an original sketch from one of our artists (number of sketches given will be proportional to number of entries received). You can find a number of banners and linking codes already here: www.gaiaonline.com/forum/test-…

Some Pledge Levels:

:bulletblue: Pledge $15 or more: A set of limited-edition buttons featuring work from the book, a thank-you on our project page and two entries into a raffle to win an original sketch from one of the artists..

:bulletblue: Pledge $30 or more: A copy of the Boiled Fish Art Book, a set of limited-edition buttons featuring work from the book, a thank-you on our project page, and five entries into a raffle to win an original sketch from one of the artists.

New Tablet ^^

Journal Entry: Tue Jul 13, 2010, 5:45 PM

I'm planning to get a new tablet, since I've had my Intuos 2 for 7 years now, and it's finally dying. I'm not sure what tablet I should get though. I want to get an intuos 4, but I hear that it has some problems, especially with the nibs and coverslips wearing down...

Anyone have any advice on tablets/what I can do about the nib problem if I do get an intuos 4?

First Part of my Trip!

Journal Entry: Tue Jun 29, 2010, 6:32 PM

Got back from my post-grad trip recently, and here are pictures from the first part of my trip. I took the Maglev train from the airport to downtown Shanghai. The Maglev train is pretty awesome, it reached a top speed of 430 km/h (268 mph)  and works by floating on top of the tracks through magnetic levitation. *u*

Shanghai from the top of the Pearl Tower:

I spent about a week in Shanghai, and went to the Shanghai Zoo to see the pandas. They had 10 pandas...10! They were super adorable, and were eating Bamboo when we got there xD

^ Thats how close I got to them!

Wish my camera were better though ;A;

There were lions, tigers, and bears too, oh my.

And the scenery at the zoo was really nice too:

We also spent some time visiting the World Expo and being touristy.
There were so many people, I don't know if I've seen so many people visiting one place before. Estimated daily crowds at the expo while we were there was 400,000 people. Its probably even more now.

From the inside of the Czech Republic Pavilion:

^ lol an interesting neon sign in their urban art section

^ A bunch of china that looks normal until you realize that I took this picture shooting straight up at the ceiling. xD

From the French Pavilion:

^ They had a really nice water crystal display

^ and an LV exhibit

The German Pavilion was pretty awesome too... well, at least I'd like to think so, since we waited 2 hours in line just to get in xD

^ They had a lighted up walkway/hallway

^ the ceiling of their take on an indoor park

^ And they had a live light show too, with a glowing globe

Here's the outside of the Chinese Pavillion:

^ We couldn't go in, since you need to line up at 6-7 am just to get reserve tickets

We took the free ferry at night too, and got a good view of the whole expo center, as well as much of the Shanghai city line

PS: I'm leaving for AX tomorrow!
